Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead now has Oscar gold, kind of. The Netflix-exclusive horror-heist movie won the newly-created Fan Favorite award at Sunday’s ceremony. This is the first of its kind with ordinary fans voting on Oscar contention.
How it worked was that fans were able to vote online from February 14 to March 3. Army of the Dead beat out box office leaders like Spider-Man: No Way Home, Dune (which won six Oscars), Malignant, Cinderella, The Power of the Dog, Minamata, The Suicide Squad, Tick…Tick…Boom (which former Spider-Man Andrew Garfield received his second Oscar nomination for), and the animated hit Sing 2.
